Well, maybe not Bert & Ernie. Though they are a good example of where we’re going here.

Opposites sometimes attract. Couples, or roommates, often feature a spender and a saver, an adventurer and a homebody, or (in Bert & Ernie’s case,) a tidier/ more organized one and a, um, less tidy one. This can create a lot of tension. Each may feel that his/her efforts are being sabotaged by the other.
